We are fortunate in the Settle area that several poets and writers of both fiction and non-fiction works, and at least one designer of book covers, have chosen to live in North Craven. There is no doubt that our beautiful Dales countryside is an inspiration to what they do. We are grateful that all those who have agreed to give Talks to the public in the library are willing to waive a fee, acknowledging as they do that Settle Community Library is a charity, largely run by volunteers trained by staff members of the North Yorkshire County Library Service. Our speakers can, if they wish, sell copies of their publications after giving their talks. The background of our speakers is rich and varied, providing a different and satisfying listening experience for members of the public who attend each of the Talks. Refreshments are provided after a period of questions and discussion. Admission is free and donations may be offered for the work of the library.
For more information on the talks, please ring the library during working hours.
