Since April 2017 Settle Library has been managed and run by local volunteers, with assistance from North Yorkshire County Council. The running costs of Settle Library are not high but nevertheless a significant amount of money has to be raised to keep the Library going.
The Library has developed a Friends’ Scheme. The principle behind the scheme is that if a lot of people pay a small amount of money per year it will very much help to keep the Library in a sound financial position.
The Friends’ Scheme provides a strong network of supporters around the Library who want to make a contribution to the continuing success of our vital local Library facility. Settle would be all the poorer without its Library; with it the town and surrounding area is so much richer.
We now have over 100 Friends of Settle Library who receive Library Newsletters and are consulted on developments in Library services. They are also invited to regular events being held at the Library or in connection with the Library.
Membership costs £10 runs for 12 months from the time you become a Friend.
You do not have to volunteer in the Library to be a Friend, nor do Friends have to become volunteers.
To become a Friend of Settle Community Library is easy. Collect a yellow application form from the Library or download it using the button below and fill it in. Once you have completed the form leave it, with your £10 fee, with one of the Library Assistants. All applications will be acknowledged and confirmed.
For more information contact the Secretary via email secretary@settlelibrary.org.uk or leave a message for them at the Library.
